An ex-serviceman from the Caerphilly county borough is now armed with an arsenal of tools after leaving the army to set up his own decoration and finishing business.
Mark Brown’s new business, called ‘The Finishing Touch’, has received a boost from the Community Business Support Fund to get the venture off the ground.
Based in Llanbradach, Mark has received financial support through Caerphilly County Borough Council and UK Steel Enterprise to get the business started.
Mark recently left the Army where he served until June this year. The Finishing Touch has been set up to provide a specialist painting and decorating service. Mark is using his qualifications and skills that he developed whilst in the Army – attention to detail, punctuality and precision – to deliver a quality service to his customers.
Cllr Ron Davies, Cabinet Member for Regeneration said, “We urge local entrepreneurs to get in touch with our Economic Development team to find out more about the kind of support that is available to help them get their business ideas off the ground.”
Andy Morris, Area Manager, UK Steel Enterprise said, “We are delighted that Mark was able to use Community Business Support Fund to purchase essential equipment to start his business and also to help to market it through a website. We wish him the best of luck for the future.”
