Cardiff’s Channel View Leisure Centre is the first venue in Wales to be equipped with BoxMaster; a new system for boxing style fitness training.
The new equipment dispenses with the need for a training partner as it provides a series of spring loaded pads which replicate a training mitt. Each pad provides for a different style of punching and allows the user to throw any punch or combination of punches.
Councillor Peter Bradbury, Cabinet Member for Community Development, Co-operatives and Social Enterprise said, “This is a fantastic and exciting addition to the range of fitness training facilities on offer in Cardiff. This new training facility provides the ultimate boxing training session while reducing the risk of injury to participants.”
Training sessions using the equipment will last around 30 minutes, beginning with a 5 minute warm up. This is followed by 7 active punching rounds and 7 active recovery rounds, each 90 seconds long. During the session, every aspect of aerobic and anaerobic conditioning training is achieved.
Training sessions are free with an Active Card or £6 for a 30 minute session. Booking is advised by contacting Channel View Leisure Centre on 20378161.
