A new six week course organised by Cardiff Council Play Services will give people the opportunity to gain an insight into children’s play.
The course, beginning in January, is open to anyone over the age of 14 and may appeal to individuals working in a community or police role, support workers and those working in the school environment such as teaching assistants or primary school teachers.
The programme covers topics such as play theory and legislation, roles and responsibilities of a play worker and how inclusion and planning can provide exciting, life-changing play opportunities. As part of the course participants will need to carry out a 30 hours work placement in order to gain hands on experience.
Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, Cllr Nigel Howells said: “Courses such as this delivered by Play Services, offer hands-on, comprehensive learning about play and the benefits it has on both child and learner.
“It not only offers opportunity of a way to further or gain employment in the field but also gives parents and teacher’s new ways and ideas of delivering play to children and young people.”
