Preparations are underway for a glittering Christmas 2010 in Neath, Port Talbot and Pontardawe with another magical festive season for all the family.
The Lord Mayor Cllr Lela James will switch on the lights at 6.00pm Friday 12th November at Port Talbot Civic Square, 6.30pm Friday 26th November in Neath at Angel Square and 6.30pm Friday 3rd December outside the Arts Centre in Pontardawe. Swansea Sound and The Wave will be at all three locations to provide plenty of music and entertainment one hour before the switch ons hosted by Kevin Johns MBE. So get there in plenty of time to enjoy the festive fun.
Swansea Sound Breakfast Show Presenter Kevin Johns said “I’m thrilled to once again be part of the Christmas celebrations in Neath Port Talbot and Pontardawe. I can promise a fun, magical, festive package of music and entertainment to kick off Christmas and look forward to seeing familiar faces and of course all those twinkling Christmas lights.”
On Saturday 13th November at 1.30pm Santa will arrive in Port Talbot with a Father Christmas Parade along station road into the Civic Square. He will then be resident in his brand new grotto in Aberavon Shopping Centre from 2.00pm. Santa will also help the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot to switch on the lights in Neath and Pontardawe.
Leader of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council Ali Thomas, said, “Christmas is a time for children and families. Once again our special events team have worked extremely hard to ensure we are able to host a truly magical Christmas across NPT with the help from volunteers and local businesses.
Other festive activities will include Craft Fairs, a Santa Race in aid of Shelter Cymru, a magical children’s show “A Christmouse Tale” and plenty of great entertainment by our talented local performers.
Don’t forget, letters to Santa can be posted at any Neath Port Talbot CBC library until December 4th.
