Welsh Assembly Minister for Health and Social Services, Edwina Hart, was guest of honour yesterday when she officially opened Hafan Lles in Prestatyn.
Hafan Lles is a pioneering project in which health and social care professionals along with voluntary organisations are working together from one base, Hafan Lles, to offer a completely integrated service to older people in the north of the County.
During her visit, Ms Hart was welcomed by Denbighshire’s chair, Councillor Meirick Lloyd Davies as well as Denbighshire’s Director of Social Service, Sally Ellis and representatives from Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board and members from all partnership organisations.
Ms Hart praised the commitment and collaborative work of all staff who have helped make the project a reality which now offers a ‘seamless service’ to some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
Cabinet Lead member for Social Care, Health and Wellbeing, Councillor Pauline Dobb, said. “It was extremely rewarding to be able to show the Minister round Hafan Lles and explain to her the pioneering work we are doing here in Denbighshire for the benefit of our older residents.”
“Our population is getting older and demographic change is one of Denbighshire’s top corporate priorities. The Minister was able to see first hand what we are doing to tackle this issue and how professionals from a wide range of different backgrounds, be it health, social care or the voluntary sector, are able to liaise much more closely from one base, providing a comprehensive and valuable service to our older residents.”
Work is now underway to provide a similar service in the the south of Denbighshire.
