As part of the A55 Warren Bank Interchange Improvement works, for safety reasons a series of weekend road closures are required to lay the final surface on the new roundabouts. This will involve full closures of the A5104 Mold Road and the westbound on-slip and eastbound off-slip that connect the A55 with the A5104.
It is anticipated that the weekend closures will be 13 and 14 November and 20 and 21 November. Closures will run from 0600 hrs Saturday to 1800 hrs Sunday.
Depending on progress during these two weekends, a third weekend may be required – which would be 27 and 28 November.
The signed diversion routes will be as follows:
For A5104 westbound traffic (Broughton to Penyffordd)
Proceed from Cherry Dale Road junction via A5104 to B5125/A5104 roundabout (adjacent to airfield) – follow signs to A55 and proceed to Junction 36 (Holiday Inn) in an eastbound direction– return along A55 in a westbound direction to Junction 35 (Dobshill) – follow A550 to Penymynydd roundabout – turn left onto A5104 and proceed to end of diversion at Warren Court.
For A5104 eastbound traffic (Penyffordd to Broughton)
Proceed from Warren Court along A5104 in a westbound direction – turn right onto A550 at Penymynydd roundabout and proceed to J35 (Dobshill). Join A55 eastbound and proceed to J36 (Holiday Inn) Return along A55 westbound and exit at J35A (west) and proceed to B5125/A5104 roundabout (adjacent to airfield) – follow A5104 and proceed to end of diversion at the Cherry Dale Road junction.
Assistance will be provided during the closures to assist with turning manoeuvres at both the Cherry Dale Road Junction and the lay-by west of Warren Court.
Once the final surfacing works have been completed during the weekend possessions, it is anticipated that there will be no further requirement for the current one way system over the A55 bridge.
Traffic Management will be limited to intermittent two phase temporary traffic signals or STOP / GO boards in various locations to enable verge finishing works etc.
Welsh Assembly Government, Flintshire County Council and Alun Griffiths Contractors apologise for inconvenience that may be caused to the travelling public during these restrictions and thank you in anticipation of your continued patience and cooperation during the final stages of construction of this project.
