Local MP Dr Hywel Francis attended a presentation by Network Rail yesterday where plans for the station refurbishment at Port Talbot Parkway were unveiled.
The project includes a major £11m refurbishment of the rail station, including new parking facilities and an enclosed foot bridge, due to be completed in 2015.
Dr Francis said:
“The planned improvements are very impressive. I am pleased that not only will the station be vastly improved visually, but critically the refurbishment will provide much better access for disabled and other users.
I want also to pay tribute to the many local people who worked hard to campaign for improvements to the station and who I am sure are delighted to see the work started.”
