Author Louise Berridge was greeted by an enthusiastic Saturday night gathering last weekend as she launched her new novel, “In the Name of the King” at Abergavenny Library.
“In the Name of the King” is the second in the Chevalier series of historical novels, tracking the adventures of André de Roland through the tumultuous history of seventeenth-century France. Set against the brutal backdrop of The Thirty Years War, it follows the bestselling debut “Honour and the Sword”, published in April 2010, and has been described as “Bernard Cornwell meets The Three Musketeers”.
Ms Berridge took part in a question and answer session with community librarian Vivienne Thomas and later signed copies of her books. She had been filmed earlier on the premises by Sky TV’s “The Moore Show”.
Monmouthshire County Council Chairman, Cllr Brian Hood MBE was at the event. He warmly welcomed Ms Berridge and the audience to Abergavenny and commented: “Unusually today we are a council who are expanding their library services with firm plans to build a new enlarged and modern library facility in this town”.
