Abersoch RNLI had a busy week leading up to the bank holiday weekend

Abersoch RNLI volunteers had a busy week leading up to the bank holiday weekend, as the inshore lifeboat was launched twice due to good intention.

The Abersoch RNLI inshore lifeboat (ILB) was launched at 10.55pm on Tuesday, August 24 after a security guard at The Warren near Abersoch had seen a dinghy, with a light on it, drifting off the beach. After firing a flare, the volunteers located the the small craft and saw that there were no people on it or in the vicinity. The 3 metre vessel, still attached to its trailer, was towed to the Warren Beach to the waiting local Coastguards.

The volunteer crew launched the inshore lifeboat again on Friday, August 27, at 8.50pm following reports of two kayaks which had failed to return to Aberdaron at the expected time. After two minutes, the ILB was recalled to station as the kayakers had been found safe and well on the beach at Aberdaron.
