Llandudno’s former D-class inshore lifeboat John Saunderson which now serves as a publicity lifeboat in Wales has been laid up for the winter after helping RNLI volunteers to raise over £10,000 for the RNLI during 2010.
RNLI supporter Ted Watson, who looks after the lifeboat, has driven over 1500 miles during the year taking the boat on its trailer to over 60 events at venues as far afield as Newtown, Wrexham and Anglesey.
During these travels the John Saunderson, which was retired from Llandudno in 2006 after 10 years service has been showing the flag for the RNLI at fetes, carnivals, shows, schools, emergency services days and RNLI Branch functions.
Volunteer Ted says
“The lifeboat attracts great interest wherever she goes, particularly when I tell people about her service at Llandudno and some of the rescues she carried out. She is proving to be so popular that I already have a growing list of bookings for her to attend events in north and mid-Wales during 2011″.
