Denbighshire has been named as the top provider of affordable Housing in North Wales according to recent figures released by the Welsh Government, based on population figures.
Denbighshire’s figure was the second highest in the whole of Wales (35 units per 10,000 population) and well above the Welsh average. Only Monmouthshire has a better record (43 units per 10,000 population).
154 affordable housing units were made available during 2010/11, with a total of 447 units created since 2004/05.
Councillor David Thomas, Cabinet Lead Member with responsibility for Housing, said: “Denbighshire has shown its commitment to providing affordable housing in communities across the county.
“It is vitally important that local people have an opportunity to buy a home in their community and providing affordable housing means more people are given that first opportunity to get onto the property ladder.”
A new application form was recently launched in collaboration with Tai Clwyd Housing Association and Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham local authorities. There is now one single form to complete to make it easier to register your interest in buying an affordable home locally.
