Responding to the publication of the report on the review of higher education provision in North East Wales, Aled Roberts, Welsh Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister for Education and AM for North Wales, said:
“The report provides an interesting model for further consideration and I shall seek views on these proposals over the coming months. There are practical issues with these proposals which will need to be considered as part of those discussions.
“My concern is that this process is taking far too long. I understand that we now have a new Minister who will want to mull things over, but this whole staggered process has been having a negative effect on Glyndwr University.
“We are now being told that a decision won’t be made until the spring. While I regret that means yet further delay, I urge the Minister to ensure that he sticks to his word.
“Both institutions play a hugely important role in learning and training within the region, which is exactly why in my submissions to the Webb Review I highlighted the need to retain free standing institutions in the region.”
