Welcoming the Yes vote in the Welsh referendum, First Minister and Scottish National Party leader Alex Salmond congratulated the people of Wales and the SNP’s sister party Plaid Cymru on an excellent result.
Mr Salmond said:
“I congratulate the people of Wales on their decision to move the powers of the National Assembly forward – it is a great result for the people and for the party of Wales, Plaid Cymru.
“Ieuan Wyn Jones and his team should be very proud of both ensuring this referendum was held and securing such an excellent result.
“They go into the forthcoming election with the ambition to move Walesforward and the tools to get the job done.
“I wish them all the best for the upcoming campaign and look forward to seeing positive, forward looking SNP and Plaid Governments returned by the people of Scotland and Wales in May.”
