Families from all over Denbighshire will enjoy a trip on the Miniature Railway in Rhyl next week to celebrate National Bookstart Week.
Babies, toddlers and their grown-ups will be meeting up for a special train trip and a rhymetime and singsong in the park on Tuesday June 14th between 1pm and 2pm.
Bethan M Hughes of Denbighshire Library Service said: “The theme for this year’s celebration is All Aboard, so we thought the Miniature Railway would be an ideal place for a fun day out for our Bookstart families.
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Railway to encourage families to use local facilities. We will also be welcoming our partner agencies Language and Play and Tegan Toy Library to the special event in Rhyl”
Denbighshire’s award-winning Bookstart project encourages parents to share rhymes and stories with their babies and toddlers and to use libraries. There are rhymetimes in Rhyl and Denbigh libraries and in other community venues every week.
Bookstart is a UK wide scheme organised by Booktrust, funded in Wales by the Welsh Government and locally by the Flying Start initiative in Denbighshire. It is managed by Denbighshire Library Service as part of its plans to support and develop children’s literacy and attainment.
