Caerphilly Catering Service honoured their teams’ success by holding their annual Performance Excellence Awards for 2013-2014 on Thursday 1st May.  Representatives from each catering service area were invited to attend the awards ceremony and celebrate the efforts made by the catering staff across the county borough.

The awards were divided into four categories – Bronze, Silver, Gold and Special Excellence and covered a variety of criteria relating to the service provided by the catering teams.  One team won the Bronze award; whilst there were 12 teams who were winners of the Silver award and 69 teams won a Gold award.  The Special Excellence Certificate was awarded to 10 teams, bringing the total number of winners to 92.

The final award presented was the David Joseph Cup, which is awarded to the team who has achieved 100% compliance with all quality standards during an independent monitoring audit not just this year but also over the last several years.  Stuart Rosser, Interim Chief Executive of Caerphilly County Borough Council, presented staff from Cwm Ifor Primary Kitchen with the award and congratulated them on their hard work.

Cllr David Poole, Cabinet Member for Leisure Services, attended the event and presented the winners with their certificates.  He said: “I would like to congratulate everyone who was recognised by an award at the Performance and Excellence ceremony today.  However, I would also like to extend these congratulations to every member of staff who work as part of Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Catering Service and thank them for their continual hard work.  Their never-failing efforts ensure that the Council remains one of the best providers of catering services and it is very important that their fantastic work is recognised and rewarded. I am very pleased to be part of such a worthy celebration of hard work and talent.”
