Labour AM for the Vale of Clwyd, Ann Jones, has warmly welcomed a decision to open a park and ride service to alleviate parking problems at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd following her work with the Health Board and the Welsh Government which first raised the possibility of such a service.
Ms Jones said: “I am absolutely thrilled that the Health Board has decided to take forward my idea to open a free park and ride service on the old Hotpoint site in Bodelwyddan. Parking has been very difficult for a long time and I am pleased to see that the health board has listened to me and taken action which should alleviate some of the pressures.
“Residents have told me time and time again, the need for solutions to the parking nightmares, and I am very pleased that my solution will soon be working for patients, staff and visitors benefit.
“I have worked closely with health board officials and the Transport Minister, Edwina Hart, and I would like to pay tribute to all those involved in making this very positive announcement”.
Ms Jones wrote to the Transport Minister and the local health board calling on them to use the old Hotpoint site which has recently been acquired by the Welsh Government as a temporary park and ride until redevelopment plans for the Hotpoint site are finalised.
