Local Assembly Member Paul Davies joined crowds in St David’s to watch the Queen’s baton relay pass through Pembrokeshire. A total of 177 people will carry the baton throughout Wales, which contains a message to athletes from the Queen. The baton relay comes ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this year.
Mr Davies said: “I was delighted to watch the Queen’s baton pass through Pembrokeshire. It’s a great honour for the local area to be involved in the relay, and I would like to place on record my thanks to everyone who supported it. The baton bearers did their jobs excellently, and they were well supported by the local community.”
He added, “The baton relay also reminds us all of the importance of keeping fit and eating healthily and I’m sure that the baton bearers will inspire more people in Pembrokeshire to become active. We now look forward to the Commonwealth Games and a successful Team Wales, who I’m sure, will be bringing some medals home.”
