Rebecca Evans AM, Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales, says “Pob Lwc” to Team Wales as they prepare to compete in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Competing across 17 sports over 11 days, from 23 July – 4 August, Team Wales will be aiming to better their previous medal tally of 19, which they won at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Mrs Evans said: “Team Wales go into these Games with deserved confidence. It is exciting that the Team is aiming for 27 medals, which shows the calibre of our Team heading to Glasgow 2014.”
Every four years the most talented Welsh athletes from across 17 different sports are selected by the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales (CGCW) to compete for Team Wales at the Commonwealth Games.
Mrs Evans added: “I am particularly thrilled that so many athletes from my Mid and West Wales region have been selected as part of this elite group to represent Wales at the Games. I congratulate them on their achievement thus far, and wish them “Pob Lwc!”
Team Wales will shortly be launching their official App for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. From profiles and pictures of each athlete to the latest news, results and full Wales-specific schedule of events, the App will provide a one-stop shop for everything supporters will need to know about Wales at the Games.
This app will be available to download for IOS devices from the Apple Store and for all other Smart phones via the Android stores, from 18 July.
Team Wales’ progress can also be followed on the Teams official website and via their Twitter (@TeamWales) and Facebook pages.
Mrs Evans added: “I encourage everyone to get behind our athletes, and show their support. These excellent sportsmen and women are giving their all to represent our country, so let’s all wish them “Pob Lwc!”
