AM Seeking Public Views on Newtown Transport Survey

Russell_GeorgeMontgomeryshire Assembly Member, Russell George, is undertaking his own public survey work, in a bid to capture the widest range of local views on what are the fundamental transport challenges in the Newtown area.

He is encouraging people to complete a short transport survey in which he is asking local residents a range of questions including what short-term solutions they would like to see implemented to resolve Newtown congestion.

Commenting, Mr George said:

“Seeking public opinion on key issues like transport, which affects people on a daily basis, is a key aspect of my role as the local AM.

“As we saw last week with the failure of the traffic management system in Newtown, these transport problems are the bane of people’s lives which they want government at whatever level, to resolve.

“I am a big believer that local people know what is best for their communities that’s why I believe those commuting and using local transport services probably have the solutions to many of these problems, they just need a way of getting those views heard.

“The survey is very short and can be completed online.

“The data I collect will provide me with robust evidence which I can use to highlight these issues with Powys County Council and Welsh Ministers.”
