South Pembrokeshire AM Angela Burns has sought assurances from Hywel Dda Trust that the closure of the histopathology services at Withybush hospital will be a temporary measure.
In a lengthy telephone call with Trevor Purt, Chief Executive of the Trust, Mrs Burns raised her concerns that the closure would be permanent and would become another service that the hospital losses.
“Mr Purt assured me that firstly people who have lost a loved one will see absolutely no change in terms of viewing arrangements and access. Secondly, Mr Purt stated that they were interviewing in December for more consultants to cover this discipline and that upon successful recruitment the department will be re-instated.”
