AM Seeks Assurances Over Speed Sign Warnings

Labour AM Jeff Cuthbert has sought assurances from Caerphilly County Borough Council that a speed warning sign in the middle of the pavement at Nelson Road, Ystrad Mynach will be moved to a more appropriate location.

The sign is currently located in the middle of the pavement, acting as a significant obstruction to pedestrians, particularly those with pushchairs or who are using mobility scooters.

Jeff Cuthbert AM said: “While I welcome moves to reduce the speed of motorists driving along Nelson Road, this warning sign has been placed in a very inconvenient location.

“People trying to pass by using pushchairs or mobility scooters will have great difficulty in doing so, and this is potentially dangerous with regular traffic passing by.

“I have sought assurances from Caerphilly County Borough Council that residents’ concerns will be addressed. I have been told that work to move the sign to a more suitable location will start as soon as possible and I certainly welcome this.”
