Monmouth Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has criticised the Welsh Government’s decision to make significant reductions to concessionary travel, which has resulted in a number of bus services being withdrawn.
Residents from Portskewett, Sudbrook and Leechpool contacted Mr Ramsay after reading in the local Press that bus services servicing their villages will no longer run after July.
Sharing their concern, Mr Ramsay said:“I will certainly argue against these cuts and am happy to support this cause. This service is relied upon by young people going to school and college and by older people who need to use public transport to visit the doctor, hospital or other everyday needs.
“It is no use the Welsh Government talking the talk without actively giving support. Bus services like in the Portskewett area need proper support not just words.
“I don’t see how this policy will encourage people to use public transport.”
