Jeff Cuthbert has welcomed an additional funding allocation of £181,489 for Care and Repair programmes across Caerphilly County Borough. The £4.77m of additional funding for 2011-12 was made available by the Labour-led Welsh Assembly Government for Care and Repair Cymru and individual Care and Repair agencies across Wales.
Care and Repair projects offer a range of services including the co-ordination of all the services needed to successfully complete work, advice about housing options, and the provision of direct in-house fast-track solutions. Recent studies have shown that every £1 spent on Care and Repair programmes saves the tax payer £7.50 in NHS and Social Care costs.
Labour AM Jeff Cuthbert said:
‘This is great news and a much needed boost for older people or people with disabilities, and the organisations which support them across Caerphilly. Without these services, which enable them to repair, improve and adapt their homes, many frail elderly people would lose their independence.’
