Angle RNLI lifeboat lands four from stricken fishing vessel

Angle’s RNLI all-weather lifeboat was launched on Saturday evening (20 February) after a 54-foot fishing vessel sank off the South Pembrokeshire coast. The Jersey-registered Kerloch (J235) was on passage from Lundy Island to Milford Haven when she struck Crow Rock, near Linney Head.

Her crew of four men took to a liferaft and were picked up by another fishing boat, the Dolly Anne. The survivors, reported to be shaken but not suffering from hypothermia, were subsequently transferred to Angle lifeboat and taken to the Milford Haven Port Authority jetty.

There, they were met by the Dale Coastguard Rescue Team and an ambulance, which had been called as a precaution. It was the first call-out, since arriving at Angle, for the Tamar class lifeboat, Edward and Barbara Prigmore (pictured), which is on relief duty there. She has replaced Angle’s Tamar class lifeboat, Mark Mason, which is undergoing engine repairs at Poole.
