Angle RNLI trio set for tough charity dash

Three RNLI lifeboat volunteers at Angle in Pembrokeshire are getting ready to dash across the Milford Haven Waterway to Dale.

Nothing unusual in that you might think, but one of them is to swim, a second is to row and the third will cycle – all in aid of two charities, the RNLI and Cancer Research.

Swimmer Mervyn Lunn (lifeboat Assistant Mechanic) and rower Mark Lynas (lifeboat Helmsman) will face a tough three-mile course across the Haven, while Mike Young (lifeboat Crew Member) will be cycling for over 26 grueling miles in his bid to beat his colleagues to Dale.

All three will start their sponsored Dash to Dale Challenge from West Angle Beach later this month – provisionally Saturday, 21 August, weather permitting – and are in serious training for the event.

Fellow RNLI Crew Member Richard Bowles, guitarist and singer, gave the fundraising a boost last month with a gig at the Hibernia public house. There are also collecting boxes at the Hibernia, the Old Point House public house, Angle shop and at the cafe at West Angle Beach.

Supporters can also make donations at www.justgiving.com/dashtodale-rnli or www.justgiving.com/dashtodale-cancerresearch.
