The Wrexham South district of North Wales Police are running an anti-arson campaign in the days and weeks leading up to Halloween and Bonfire Night.
Working with North Wales Fire and Rescue Service to reduce the number of fires in this busy period, the police will be carrying out covert and overt patrols using NWFS state of the art technology to target and identify victims, offenders and locations.
Incidents of arson in Wrexham are rare, but the police will prosecute anyone responsible for deliberately endangering the lives or property of others in the community.
The initiative is part of Operation Bang aimed at deterring anti-social behaviour at this time of year.
Meanwhile North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are keen to promote free home fire safety checks including specialist interventions, such as bin locks and fireproof letterboxes supplied by North Wales Arson Reduction Team and the Community Safety Partnership,.
For a home fire safety check call 0800 169 1234.
To report information about anyone who deliberately set fires, call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
