Appeal after cat shot with airgun

Police are appealing for information to trace those responsible for shooting a cat in the eye.

The incident occurred between 6.30pm and 11.30pm on Thursday September 2 in a secluded area off Tir Y Fron Lane, Llanfynydd, near Mold.

The cat was found slumped on the ground and bleeding from the head. A vet confirmed that the animal had been shot through its eye, probably by an air rifle, at close range.

The cat, which has undergone extensive treatment, may well lose the sight in one eye.

Inspector Martin Best said: “This is obviously a particularly cruel and nasty incident and I would urge anyone who might know anything about it to contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact PC 2239 Darren Jones on 101, if in Wales, or 08456071001 (Welsh line) 08456071002 (English line).
