Appeal following dog attack

Police are appealing for information after a 44-year-old man was left needing hospital treatment for serious hand injuries after being attacked by a dog in Wrexham.

The victim was out walking his dog in a field in the Golbourne area of the town at around 7.30pm on Tuesday, September 28, when a dog approached and began to attack his dog. As the victim attempted to pull his pet away, the dog then went on to bite him and left him with injuries to both hands.

The owner of the dog came over to the victim and stopped the attack. The dog is described as a bull terrier type dog and is dark brown and white in colour.

The victim returned home and was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital where he remains at this time receiving treatment for his injuries. This treatment has included surgery.

The victim’s dog was also injured.

Police were alerted to the incident yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, September 29) and inquiries to locate the dog and its owner are underway. Officers are today continuing with their inquiries in the Borras Park area of Wrexham.

Police investigating are appealing to the owner of the dog to come forward and are also anxious to speak to anyone who has information or who witnessed the incident to contact officers at Wrexham immediately on 0845 6071001 (Welsh language line) 0845 6071002 (English language line) or 101.
