Gwent Police is appealing for information following an armed robbery reported to have taken place in Newport at approximately 11.45am this morning, Wednesday 9th July.
The victim, a 23 year old woman, was walking along a path at the rear of Cormorant Way, Duffryn with her three children, two in a double buggy. She stopped to tend to her children and whilst doing this she was approached from behind by a man.
The man showed her a kitchen knife and rummaged through her belongings on the buggy. He took some cash from her bag, walked off towards a bike, which had been laying on the path nearby, and cycled away. Noone was harmed.
The offender is described as being white with a tanned complexion, 5 feet 7 – 5 feet 9 inches tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a black zipped up hoody with the hood up, a black balaclava, black tracksuit bottoms, black trainers and black gloves with red lines on the palms running wrist to finger. He is believed to be 25-30 years old and spoke with a local accent. The bike he was riding had a silver and yellow frame, with red suspension springs at the front and a black spring at the back.
