Gwent Police are appealing for information following an assault on Malpas Road near a set of traffic lights adjacent to a Fish and Chips shop at approximately 22:30 last night (Wednesday 21/05/14).
A 55 year old cyclist from the Newport area was taken to the Royal Gwent with head injuries, he remains in hospital a stable condition.
A 22 year old man and a 19 year old woman both from the Newport area have both been arrested on suspicion of assault. They remain in police custody at this time.
