Appeal for information on Grangetown burglaries

Police investigating three burglaries in the Grangetown area of Cardiff are appealing for information.

The break-ins occurred in Merches Gardens, Mardy Street and Dinas Street, overnight between Sunday, August 28 and Monday, August 29.

Televisions were stolen from the homes in Merches Gardens and Mardy Street, and a set of cream white pearls and DVD player were also stolen from the latter property.

The burglar has gained access via the back lanes then either smashed or forced windows open.

DI Shane Ahmed from Cardiff CID said: “While we don’t wish to alarm the local community, we feel it is important to make residents aware that these incidents have taken place so they can be vigilant and make sure their homes are secure, particularly at night.

“These burglaries are being fully investigated and a number of enquiries are on-going to trace the person responsible.

“Due to the similarities in terms of location, times, and type of offence we believe they are linked and would appeal for anyone for information to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cardiff CID on 02920 527 420 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
