Gwent Police is appealing for information following a serious sexual assault that is reported to have occurred in Newport city centre in the early hours of yesterday morning, Thursday 2nd December.
The incident occurred between the hours of 3am and 5am in the Old Green/Riverfront area of Newport.
The victim, a 21 year old local female, is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, of slim build, with long mousy coloured hair. She was wearing a light coloured body warmer with a fur hood and blue jeans. Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen her within the timeframe specified to contact them.
Officers are also interested in speaking to a man and the occupants of a vehicle that were seen in the area during that time.
The man is described as being of mixed race and approximately 28/29 years old. He is tall, of thin build but with big/muscular arms. He was wearing dark clothing.
The vehicle is a dark coloured Ford Fiesta which was seen on High Street at 4.55am this morning.

Meanwhile, police are continuing to investigate the incident and the victim is being supported by specialist officers and partner agencies.
