Denbighshire’s Cabinet has approved Area Plans for Ruthin and Prestatyn and has agreed to fund priority projects identified in both areas.
The Cabinet has previously agreed to widen the county’s Town Plans into Area Plans, to include rural communities.
The Ruthin Town and Area Plan covers Ruthin, Llandyrnog, Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd, Llangynhafal, Llanarmon yn Iâl, Llandegla, Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd, Gwyddelwern, Efenechtyd and Llanrhaeadr yng Nghinmeirch wards.
The priority projects approved by Cabinet are:
- Improvements to Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd Village Hall (£8,400)
- Improvements to Llanarmon yn Iâl Playing Field (£24,250)
- Clawddnewydd Joint Venture Project (£40,000)
All of these projects are subject to confirmation that match funding has been secured.
The Prestatyn Town and Area Plan includes Prestatyn and Meliden. The priority projects approved by Cabinet are:
- Meliden Goods Shed (£50,000)
- Meliden Football Club Changing Rooms (£25,000)
- Ffordd Talargoch Environmental Improvements (£25,000)
These allocations will be used to secure the match funding required to deliver the projects.
To date, £875,170 worth of projects have been agreed for the county, with £63,546 of match funding already secured.
Leader of Denbighshire, Councillor Hugh Evans OBE, who is also the Lead Member for Regeneration, said:
“The Town and Area Plans help us identify how priority projects are delivered at a local level, with action plans that will help improve private sector confidence and how investments will create new jobs and business opportunities.
“These projects will also contribute to some of the Council’s main priorities around improving our roads, providing clean and tidy streets and modernising the way we work to be more efficient and improve services for our customers.
“These Plans have the strapline ‘Looking Forward Together’ and that demonstrates the commitment the Council has to working with community groups and organisations to realise our ambition for these areas and to make the projects become a reality.”
Area Plans for Rhuddlan, Rhyl and Denbigh are to be presented to the Cabinet for approval in March.
