Around the World in one night in the north

Five musicians and two miming clown artistes will be visiting village halls to entertain the communities of North Wales in the February half term holidays.

Loon & Theatre Mimi are currently on tour in England with their utterly wonderful family friendly show ‘Phileas P. Souper’ Night Out, Arts Council of Wales‘ Community Touring team are lucky enough to have them back after a successful tour last year.

The play opens at the wake of intrepid explorer Phileas P.Souper where his friends decide to celebrate his greatest adventures and invite the audience to participate in this breathless ride.
Inspired by the silent movie era and ‘around the world in 80 days’ this cut-price Phileas Fogg and his brother battle the elements, the animals, and the bicycle pumps as they embark on a melodramatic circumnavigation of the globe . They ride a tandem bike through Paris and a late train in Siberia offering their tender, comical observations as they go. The brothers are provoked and second-guessed by the genius and slapdash comic timing of the musicians who delight audiences with an array of unusual instruments including marimbas, mbiras, saw, peanut tins tuned wine glasses, washboards and zither … not to mention accordion, bassoon, banjo, brass, percussion, drums, guitar and piano.

‘The simple structure of mimed sketches accompanied by dynamic multi-instrumentalists creates the atmosphere of the various locations brilliantly- with the need for only minimal dialogue.’ Patrick Chappell – Behind The Fringe

‘What a riot, we’re still laughing about it! The energy, humour and musicianship were wonderful and as you could tell – we’re a small audience but VERY appreciative. I have no idea how I could describe your show – all I can say is that I would recommend it to anyone who wants something uniquely entertaining, different, and frankly quite mad !’ Night Out promoter, Flintshire

Why don’t you brighten up a cold February evening with this uplifting show, full of wit, wackiness and energy.
