Local artists interested in using their creativity to assist in improving people’s health and wellbeing are being invited to join an innovative initiative open across Gwynedd and Anglesey.
With the aim of using creative work to contribute towards health and wellbeing, “Creu Iechyd”, the Gwynedd and Anglesey Arts in Health and Wellbeing Steering Group is trying to bring artists and health care practitioners together.
“Creu Iechyd” will hold its first annual meeting on 29 January 2010 (2pm – 4pm) at Ty Newydd, Llanystumdwy which will welcome artists and health professionals with an interest in the field to come together to voice opinions, discuss, network, elect new members and to consider relevant presentations from experts. All are welcome.
Gwawr Wyn Roberts, “Creu Iechyd” Secretary and Gwynedd Council Community Art Development Officer said: “The arts can be a highly effective tool to help people receiving treatment and act as a barrier, or to help develop self-confidence and real assistance to patients and their families in our communities.”
Currently “Creu Iechyd”, in partnership with Gwynedd Council’s Community Arts Unit aims to create a database of details of artists with experience of working in the field of Art in Health and Well-being – from any creative field such as dance, music, art, drama and literature to come forward.
Gwawr Wyn Roberts added: “Our aim in developing this important work here in Gwynedd and Anglesey through “Creu Iechyd’ is to create a network of experts available to offer plans and support groups throughout the area looking for artists to work on Health and Wellbeing projects.”
The annual meeting of “Creu Iechyd” will be held at Ty Newydd, Llanystumdwy between 2pm and 4pm on Friday, 29 January 2010.
