A display of enchanting original prints by professional printmaker, Ruth Thomas, can be seen in the Gallery at Holywell Library throughout March as part of Flintshire’s Artsfest ’14.
At the same time, Clwyd Theatr Cymru’s education gallery will show artistic collage prints that pupils from Flintshire primary schools Southdown, Mountain Lane and Mynydd Isa have developed under her guidance as an artist in residence.
Ruth is a professional artist from the Vale of Clwyd and has been print making for over 25 years using collage techniques inspired by nature. She uses natural materials and some more unusual objects like snakeskin, dead spiders, feathers and grass seeds. She has a fine art degree from Coventry and studied for a masters degree in Leeds.
Ruth said: “This is the first time I’ve taken part in Artsfest and I’m delighted to be part of the festival as it raises the profile of art in the local area. My exhibition in Holywell is recent work using the theme of nature and taking impressions from natural objects.”
For people who are inspired to have a go after seeing the exhibitions, Ruth will be holding a workshop where participants can try their hand at printmaking at Rhosesmor Village Hall on Sunday 30 March.
To book a place on the workshop please contact the Arts, Culture and Events section of Flintshire County Council on 01352 704408.
