Shadow Minister for Equality Mohammad Asghar believes next year’s Assembly Elections could provide an ideal media opportunity to promote Wales’ devolved institution.
During a questions session in the Senedd with Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones, Mr Asghar, who represents the South Wales East region, said that the Assembly Elections provided an “opportunity for people living in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland to gain knowledge about the political process in Wales and about the National Assembly generally”.
He asked the Minister what steps he would take “to ensure that next year’s Assembly elections and the forthcoming referendum receive adequate broadcast and media coverage in the other UK nations”.
The Minister responded: “I think that you make a good point, in that the understanding of devolution in general outside Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland is limited”.
