Shadow Minister for Equality Mohammad Asghar is hopeful that bus and coach operators across Wales will add audible announcements to services to aid blind and partially sighted passengers.
Mr Asghar, National Assembly Member for South Wales East, has given his support to the idea following discussions with representatives from the Guide Dogs for the Blind charity.
The issue was raised during a debate on the National Transport Plan in the Siambr this week.
After the debate, Mr Asghar said: “I am pleased that the Deputy First Minister has confirmed that his officials are discussing this important issue.
“I do not believe that these changes would incur significant expense – but would make the use of public transport significantly easier for a number of people.
“I hope that this can be implemented across Wales.”
