Speaking in the Senedd in a debate on Wednesday, National Assembly Member Mohammad Asghar discussed the problem of unemployment in Wales.
Mr Asghar, who is Shadow Minister for Equality, said: “Looking at (the) figures from a UK level, we can see that things are particularly bad in Wales. We still have the highest unemployment of any UK nation.
“It is deeply regrettable that the latest figures show yet another increase in unemployment here in Wales between the last two quarters.
He added: “The Welsh Assembly Government’s failure to provide adequate business rate relief for many businesses means that many are not in a position to hire new staff – which exacerbates unemployment.
“We should be doing all we can to foster and develop the growth of new businesses to help ease the unemployment problem”.
