Commenting on the announcement that the 2013 Rugby League World Cup will be hosted jointly between England and Wales, Shadow Minister for Heritage, Mohammad Asghar said:
“This is a great opportunity for Wales to consolidate its reputation as a world class venue for sporting events.
“The 2013 Rugby League World Cup will build on the enormous success of previous rugby world cups, the Ashes, the Ryder Cup and the recent GB rally.
“This event has the potential to bring considerable economic benefits to the Welsh economy and we will be seeking assurances that the Assembly Government has proposals to help Wales make the most of this opportunity.”
