Shadow Minister for Equality Mohammad Asghar has welcomed the initiative of Newport Transport in implementing smart-card technology on bus services across the city.
Mr Asghar, National Assembly Member for South Wales East, raised the issue with the Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones during a plenary session in the Senedd on Wednesday.
He highlighted how the scheme had “enormous potential to make travel on the bus network in Newport easier for people, as well as making a positive contribution to our environment”.
