Shadow Minister for Equality Mohammad Asghar has given his full support to the early efforts taken by Her Majesty’s Government to improve the state of public finances.
Speaking in a debate in the Senedd on Wednesday, Mr Asghar said: “The national budget deficit is staggering. The current situation risks world markets losing confidence in the UK, while the rising cost of our borrowing could choke any economic recovery.
“I welcome the steps taken so far and hope that we can all work together to ensure that the deficit is reduced.”
Mr Asghar added that he believed the new Westminster Government has already shown “tremendous transparency and openness” in dealing with the issue of public expenditure.
He said that by increasing the levels of Government data online, the public had access to “more information about the way that their taxes are being spent”.
