A motion for a debate on the Israeli interception of the Free Gaza flotilla will be heard at the National Assembly for Wales tomorrow (Wednesday June 23rd). The motion has been put forward on a cross party basis, backed by Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM (Plaid Cymru), Alun Davies AM (Labour), Jenny RandersonDavid Melding AM (Conservative). AM (Lib Dem) and
Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM added:
“It is important as an institution that the National Assembly has a voice on issues such as this. We have debated troubles in the Middle East in the past and have a fine record we have on humanitarian campaigns.
It was very important that the motion was backed on a cross party basis as it shows when it comes to issues of this importance there can be no party political point scoring.
The debate will no doubt allow Assembly Members from all corners of Wales to express their views, and the views of their constituents on the matter. I have received a lot of correspondence from constituents on the matter and I know they are supportive of the role of the Assembly in speaking out on this.”
