Neath Port Talbot Libraries Marketing Group were runners up in this year’s Welsh Libraries Marketing and Innovation Awards 2009-2010. The awards at the Senedd on February 25 were hosted by Assembly Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones.
The Neath Port Talbot project entitled “Octoberfest at Neath Port Talbot Libraries” was devised to increase the profile of libraries by promoting services to new sectors of the community such as free access to books, the internet and free online resources.
Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council Ali Thomas said, “This coveted Welsh Library Award celebrates the valuable contribution that NPT Libraries undertake in attracting new audiences and activities into the County’s seventeen branches through a programme of free events, author talks and story telling sessions which contributed to an award winning successful campaign.”
Neath Port Talbot Libraries Marketing Group were presented their award and £300 of high street vouchers by Welsh Libraries Champion, Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones.
