Inspirational leaders who make a positive difference to the communities where they work will be recognised in a national award sponsored by the Church in Wales.
Nominations are now open for the Leadership in Social Responsibility award which is one of eight categories in this year’s Leading Wales Awards.
Judges will be looking for people with a strong sense of their role in the wider community and their responsibility to it and to those they lead.
The Bishop of Swansea and Brecon, the Rt Revd John Davies, who is the Church’s spokesman on social responsibility, said, “We’re looking for people, from any sector, whose influence and impact is greater than normal expectations and is transforming values and behaviour for the wider benefit of the organisation and community.
“The Church in Wales is committed to working with communities and organisations throughout Wales. We believe the challenge is to help transform the quality of wellbeing and care, with more people playing their role and everyone’s contribution being more recognized and valued. As a church we rejoice in the new approach of holistic leadership and believe there is a direct relationship between spiritual values, good line management and the performance, health and wellbeing of people in the workplace.”
This is the third year running for the Church in Wales to sponsor a Leading Wales Award. Last year it sponsored the Business Leader in the Community category which was won by Geraint Lewis, Managing Director of Seven Sisters-based outdoor activity centre, Call Of The Wild.
Nominations close on March 4 and the winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony in Cardiff on May 19.
Leading Wales Awards is an annual event, organised by a consortium of professional institutes, voluntary and public sector as well as private companies.
