Award-winning journalist, broadcaster and television personality John Sergeant will be the guest speaker at the forthcoming Business Club Gala Dinner and Awards evening.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Business Club is pleased to secure such a prestigious and popular speaker for its flagship event.
Mr Sergeant will help to highlight and celebrate the achievements of local businesses in the annual awards.
Last seen winning the hearts of viewers in Strictly Come Dancing John Sergeant will be addressing nominees from local businesses across Rhondda Cynon Taf at the event.
He will no doubt draw upon his long and colourful career, which began in 1966, just weeks after his graduation from university, when he made his first television appearance.
He then became a newspaper journalist before travelling the world and covering conflicts including Vietnam and Northern Ireland for the BBC, before settling in Westminster as chief political correspondent, a post he held for 12 years.
After 30 years with the “Corporation” John moved to ITV as political editor, before turning his hand to freelance work in 2002, which has seen him guest host the One Show and Argumental.
He has also appeared on Have I Got News For You, Question Time, QI and Room 101 as well as, importantly, a popular contender on Strictly Come Dancing.
His next important fixture is at the Rhondda Cynon Taf Business Club Gala Dinner and Awards evening on Friday March 4 at the Heritage Park Hotel in Trehafod.
Cllr Paul Cannon, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Safer Communities, said: “I am so pleased we have been able to secure a prestigious guest for our popular and important Gala Dinner and Awards evening.
“I am sure that John Sergeant and his colourful, successful career will be of interest and entertainment to the business representatives who are attending to celebrate the innovation they have shown during a tough year.
“Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is pleased to facilitate the Business Club, which provides invaluable support and networking opportunities for local businesses, particularly in these difficult economic times.”
