Pont Kemys Caravan & Camping Park, near Chainbridge, has been named ‘Site of the Year’ at the 2010 Which Motor Caravan Awards.
The annual awards, run by Which Motor Caravan Magazine, celebrate excellence and innovation in the design and performance of motor caravans of all sizes, as well as commending the best caravan and touring parks in the UK for motor caravans and motorhomes.
Judges, including Which Motor Caravan editor, Peter Vaughan, praised the ongoing improvements that owners Bryan and Rose Jones have made to the facilities, and the convenient location of Pont Kemys as a base for exploring the Vale of Usk and the towns of Abergavenny, Usk and Caerleon.
Peter Vaughan explained why Pont Kemys stood out from the competition:
“Pont Kemys is a laidback site that offers the ultimate relaxing break, all nestled amidst rural scenery. With an excellent layout, beautiful location and first-rate facilities, it’s clear to see why this great site is a worthy Which Motor Caravan award winner.”
News of the award came as a surprise to the park’s owners, as no application was required from entrants. Judges from the awards scheme awarded the top honour to Pont Kemys following an anonymous visit, which Rose Jones said was a testament to the hard work and attention to detail shown in the day-to-day running of the site:
“We were delighted to receive the award and feel quite thrilled, not only for ourselves, but also for the people who help us with cleaning, grass cutting and general site maintenance. Since opening in 2000, we have always strived to improve the site, planting more trees and hedges and maintaining a very high standard of cleanliness in the toilet and shower block.
“Many of our customers return year after year, and this year many of the stewards and marshals for The Ryder Cup will be staying with us. We hope that this award will help us spread the message that Monmouthshire has so much to offer all visitors.”
