Cardiff based Bang Post Production is celebrating after facing stiff competition in the USA to bring an Emmy back to Wales for their work on BBC’s Sherlock series.
The Creative Arts Emmy was awarded for ‘Outstanding sound editing in a mini series or movie’ and was up against American Horror Story: Coven, Bonny and Clyde, Fargo, Klondike and Mob City.
Bang Post Production now has the distinction of becoming the first Welsh company to win an Emmy in this category.
The company – set up by Paul McFadden and Doug Sinclair eight years ago – consists of a team of just five people who have been extremely successful, operating in a niche market targeting high end drama.
Economy Minister Edwina Hart congratulated the team on their success in winning an Emmy – one of the most prestigious awards in the TV industry worldwide.
Mrs Hart said: “This is a considerable achievement and quite a coup for Bang Post Production and the creative sector in Wales. Sherlock is one of very many ‘made in Wales’ high profile international success stories and I am delighted Bang Post Production’s contribution has been recognised in this manner.
“Their success reinforces our message that Wales has an abundance of creative talent and is a great location for companies working in the sector – and a great place for producing high end TV drama and feature films. “
Paul McFadden said:” Winning an Emmy is fantastic for our business especially as we were pitted against some serious competition and will help raise our profile considerably. It was a tremendous experience going out to LA which also gave us the opportunity to network, set up meetings with other film companies that will hopefully result in further work for us.”
The company, which was also nominated in the outstanding sound mixing category, has a strong track record, having worked on the first five series of Doctor Who and all three series of Sherlock which won a national Bata two years ago.
Bang Post Production is currently working on Glue for Channel4, Set Fire to the Stars starring Elijah Wood and Jack to a King – the Swansea City FC story, with a number of other projects lined up.
