A bank is to go ahead with the closure of a North Wales branch in spite of protests from residents, businesses and local politicians.
The HSBC has confirmed it’s decision to press ahead with the closure of it’s Rhos-on-Sea branch near Colwyn Bay by the end of the year. The bank announced it’s intention to close the branch last month in letters to customers and local politicians.
Clwyd West AM Darren Millar (pictured) met with Regional Service Manager Laura Brown this week to discuss the closure. Following the meeting, Darren said:
‘I’m very disappointed that the HSBC have taken the decision to close their Rhos-on-Sea branch. The decision will be a huge blow for the bank’s loyal customers, who will face the inconvenience of having to travel to for branch services from December.
‘Whilst I am grateful that the HSBC has given a commitment to establish a fee free ATM for cash withdrawals in Rhos-on-Sea, such a facility will fall well short of the needs of many customers, particularly businesses and others wishing to make deposits or seek face to face advice.
He added, ‘This is the secondbranch closure to be executed by the HSBC in my constituency in the past two years. I very much hope it will be the last.’
