Residents will have the chance to view exciting enhancement proposals for Bargoed town centre later this month.
Bargoed town centre is facing a bright future thanks to major grant funding, some of which is assisting the creation of a new bus station area, with works currently underway.
The next phases of the regeneration programme will introduce an exciting series of town centre enhancement proposals, through Hanbury Road, High Street and Upper High Street, creating new, improved public spaces, wider, safer pavements and new public artwork.
An exhibition of the detailed plans and programme will be on display at Gigabytes Café, High Street, Bargoed.
Cllr Ron Davies, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Planning said, “Bargoed is a town facing a very bright future, and I would encourage as many residents as possible to come along and view the exciting regeneration proposals for their town”.
Residents can view the plans on the following dates, and officers from Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Urban Renewal Team will be on hand to answer any questions:
- Saturday 15th January – 10.30am – 1pm
- Monday 17th January – 3.30pm – 5.30pm

The Council would also like to hear your ideas for a formal name for the square in Bargoed, known locally as Spar Square, which will be engraved into the floorscape. The name you suggest could reflect the physical, historical or cultural character of the area.
Please give us your suggestion, plus why you think it should be the new name, by either completing a questionnaire at the exhibition or by e-mailing [email protected]. The closing date is Friday 28th January 2011.
A panel of judges including representatives from the local community, schools and Caerphilly County Borough Council, will select the winning entry and be announced in late February/early March.
